| Responsible for the "voice"
that supports the "vision" as defined with the Senior
Producer. Expected to understand and have affinity for the subject
matter and its intended audience. Responsible for proposing and managing
editorial content, including all daily and planned feature content.
Assigns tasks and assignments; determines editorial tone of the program
as well as the amount and type of user interaction; edits copy to meet
established tone and theme requirements; writes copy, headlines, tag
lines, original stories, contests, quizzes, articles, interviews, etc.
as needed; enhances existing material. Responsible for all
"daily" and planned feature content of the site and all its
sections. Expected to maintain external relationships necessary for
supplying new and exclusive content. Hires and manages external writers,
as well as manages the editorial staff of the site. Typically serves as
the technical liaison among the "back room" technology
personnel and the creative and content teams to explain technical
protocols; helps both the technical and content personnel understand
required production procedures; contributes to ensuring that desired
product and user outcomes are achieved. Stays current with all relevant
and emerging technologies for content production and delivery. Is
proficient with HTML, Perl, ASP, C++, SQL, Visual Basic, database
interaction via DBI/DBD or ODBC, Tcl, and Mac, Windows, and UNIX
platforms. Five or more years experience n managing the technical design
and production teams and expert knowledge of state of the art online
technologies for web content production and delivery is required.
